Buffalo steak is every bit as flavorful and hearty as beef but it tends to be a lot lower in fat. Buffalo is between 70 and 90% lower than beef in fat, and it also only has half the cholesterol. It is also higher in amino and omega acids, iron and protein. Buffalo is naturally resistant to disease and tends to grow quicker than domestic animals, so they do not require the growth hormones or antibiotics routinely given to beef cattle.
This smoky BBQ flavored marinade goes perfectly with such a tasty meat and you only need to marinate your buffalo steaks for an hour because they are not tough to begin with. The marinade is designed to give the meat flavor, or rather to enhance its own natural taste, rather than perform any tenderizing function.
Buffalo meat is darker than beef and it has a lighter, sweeter taste. Sometimes steak might leave you with a greasy feel in your mouth, but buffalo does not do this. Buffalo has a lively flavor but not a gamy one.
You can use any kind of steak sauce and BBQ sauce in the following buffalo steak marinade recipe and you can serve the finished steak with French fries and a salad for a real treat which would cost more than double in a restaurant. This is one of our most flavorful marinades and you will love the rich, meaty flavor.

Photo Description:
Buffalo strip steak has a lovely flavor and it makes a difference from beef. It is also a good option if you are watching your fat intake because it is lower in fat than beef. In the photo, the meat is served with a selection of colorful cooked vegetables. You can see what a hearty and flavorful meal this would make. If you have never cooked buffalo steak before, then you will not find it much different from cooking beef. The health benefits are one very good reason to choose buffalo over beef, but do not expect the flavor to be compromised. Healthy food can taste good too!
