If you love the flavor of garlic, you will find this garlic steak marinade to be one of the best steak marinade recipes of all time. The garlic is gently cooked and combined with aromatic rosemary, tangy mustard and soy sauce for a rich yet delicate flavor. Dry sherry adds a wonderful flavor too but you can use apple juice instead if you prefer.
This garlic steak marinade recipe is then boiled and used as a sauce. You need to let the steak rest for fifteen minutes after cooking, then slice it diagonally and pour the thick, rich sauce over the top. Rice or mashed potatoes go nicely with this garlic steak marinade meal.
Ingredients -
¼ cup wine vinegar (red or white)
½ teaspoon ground dry mustard
¼ cup vegetable oil
¼ cup dry sherry
2 teaspoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon dried rosemary or 1 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary
4 cloves finely chopped garlic
Preparation:
Heat the oil over a medium high heat in a skillet, and then add the garlic.
Cook it until golden and fragrant, and then stir in the mustard, soy sauce, and rosemary. Take the mixture off the heat and stir in the sherry and vinegar.
Let the garlic steak marinade cool down. Put 3 to 4 pounds of bone-in beef or 1 to 1 ½ pounds of boneless beef in a shallow dish.
You could also use lamb or pork with this recipe.
Pour the marinade over the top, then cover the dish and let the steak marinate for up to 24 hours in the refrigerator.
Take the meat out of the marinade and transfer the marinade to a saucepan.
Let it boil for 5 minutes to destroy any bacteria from the steak, then let it cool for 5 minutes.
Cook the steak, brushing it with the marinade as it cooks.
You can serve the remaining marinade as a sauce.
You will need to boil and stir it constantly to thicken it up.
