If you love the sweet and fragrant flavors of pineapple, garlic, ginger, and soy sauce, then you are really going to love this Hawaiian teriyaki steak marinade. The pineapple juice contains an enzyme, which tenderizes the meat, and the other ingredients add plenty of flavor for a great result. Fruit features in a lot of marinating recipes because it tenderizes as well as adding a nice sweet flavor, and it also helps to balance out sauces by adding a sweet element to contrast with the otherwise savory or sharp flavors.
The ingredients in this one are simmered together and then allowed to cool before the meat is added, which blends the flavors nicely as well as melting the sugar. This is the best steak marinade to use if you want a Hawaiian meal with plenty of meat.
This simple 6-ingredient recipe gives a beautiful taste to your beef and you can serve it with rice or with a baked potato. Because the meat is so special, keep the side dishes relatively plain so you can focus on the steak, which is the highlight of the whole meal. Why not add a fresh pineapple to the grill too, and serve hot pineapple chunks alongside the steak? That would be amazing and would look great too.
Ingredients -
1 minced clove garlic
½ teaspoon minced ginger
½ cup soy sauce
¼ cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons sesame oil
15 oz can pineapple chunks in juice
Preparation:
Transfer the juice from the can of pineapple chunks into a pan, and then stir in the ginger, sesame oil, soy sauce, sugar, and garlic.
Simmer the mixture over a low heat until the sugar dissolves, and then let it cool.
Put the steak and pineapple chunks in a Ziploc bag, and then pour the Hawaiian teriyaki marinade over them.
Turn the bag a few times to coat the steak evenly and marinate it in the refrigerator for 2 or 3 hours.
