For the following porterhouse steak marinade recipe, choose a pair of porterhouse steaks weighing between two and three pounds each. The steaks should be an inch and a half thick. Of course, you can double this recipe if you want to feed more people. You will find that the fresh herbs and garlic work very well together and this is one of our most easy steak marinades because you just need to combine the ingredients and pour the mixture over the meat.
The porterhouse steaks are really flavorful if you let them marinate in the porterhouse steak marinade for twenty-four hours but you can shorten this if you want. Give them at least a couple of hours in the marinade to absorb some flavor. This recipe serves four people.
Ingredients -
2 porterhouse steaks, about 2 ½ lbs each
1 tablespoon salt
2 teaspoons black pepper
¼ cup olive oil
7 minced garlic cloves
1 teaspoon chopped fresh rosemary
1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme
Preparation:
Whisk the oil with the salt, pepper, garlic, and herbs and pour half of this marinade over the porterhouse steaks in a glass dish.
Turn the meat over and pour the rest of the marinade over the top.
Cover and chill the meat for up to 24 hours, turning it a few times.
Cook the steaks on a covered moderately hot grill until they are done.
If the meat is cooking too fast, you can move it to a cooler part of the rack.
Let the steaks stand for 5 minutes then cut the meat off the bone into ⅓ inch thick pieces.
Garnish them with herb butter and fresh parsley if you like.
