This sweet and sticky orange juice steak marinade is perfect if you enjoy flavors from the orient. Using orange peel, orange juice and orange liqueur, the fruity flavor is unmistakable and the ginger, garlic, and five spice add other Asian elements. The cayenne pepper gives this steak marinade a gentle kick. You can leave out the orange liqueur if you like but you might need to add a little more orange juice and molasses if so.
The molasses gives this tasty orange juice steak marinade a wonderful earthy sweetness without the over-sweetness of sugar and this is the best steak marinade if you like Asian flavors with your meat. This is one of our wonderfully easy steak marinades where you simply combine the ingredients and leave the steak to marinate for a number of hours.
Ingredients -
3 tablespoons dark sweet vinegar
2 tablespoons molasses
½ teaspoon ground white pepper
½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
2 tablespoons grated fresh ginger
2 tablespoons orange liqueur (optional)
1 teaspoon five spice powder
½ cup orange juice
2 tablespoons finely shredded orange peel
1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
Preparation:
Combine the vinegar, molasses, peppers, ginger, five spice, orange juice, orange peel, and sesame oil.
Stir in the orange liqueur if you are using it.
Trim the fat from your steak, and then put it in a plastic bag.
Pour the orange juice steak marinade into the bag and seal it.
Let the steak marinate in the refrigerator for between 8 and 24 hours.
Turn the bag over a few times during the marinating time.
